Beautiful turban snail silver pendant with handcrafted highly polished 925 sterling silver spiral inlay.

Due to its different colors, each piece is unique.
The housing of the snails was filled with black resin for stabilization, then polished. Shimmering stripes of light form on the mother-of-pearl surface, which change over the snail when moving.

Turban Snail (Turban Petholatus):
Unique jewelry from the sea - and legendary protective stone. The Turban snailalso called top shell; is a special kind of shellfish that occurs in the tropical depths of the seas of our earth. The name of the turban snail comes from its case, which looks like a turban. The snail pushes with its muscular strength - if danger comes - a kind of lid - the so-called Shiva eye so to speak as protection in front of the shell.

Turbo petholatus lives in depths up to 40 m, on coral reefs and on rocky grounds and is particularly widespread in the tropical Indo-Pacific, East Africa and the Red Sea. It is one of the most beautiful snails in its family. Colorings and drawings vary considerably. Often dark brown with darker bands and white spots or stripes, but also greenish yellow without any pattern. The inside is made of mother-of-pearl. The shells due to their beauty are used for jewelry production the so-called operculum jewelry.

Silver Jewelry will turn black over time. This is a normal process during which silver reacts with oxygen and sweat but also ingredients of for example skin care products. For cleaning purposes we recommend silver cleaning cloth. These are soaked with chemicals which solve silver sulfide and take on the black residue. However during this manual process small amounts of actual siver are removed as well. Do not polish silver plated jewelry in this manner too often! We always recommend to take off silver jewelry during manual labor, while performing sports and in the shower or sauna.
