Silver pendant with a beautiful large Nautilus shell handmade set in fine sterling silver 925

One of the most striking features of the Nautilus shell is the spiral-shaped, usually whitish to brownish striated outer shell - whose interior is chambered. The inner layer, the hypostracum, is made of mother of pearl.

The shell was filled with colored resin for stabilization, then sanded and polished.
On the mother-of-pearl surface the light breaks in a unique way.

Shimmering bright light stripes are created on the mother-of-pearl surface - which change places across the shell when moving.
An optical phenomenon, because depending on the viewing angle of the surface - changing shimmering colors appear.

In esotericism, mother-of-pearl stands for confidence, foresight and mental balance, in addition, mother-of-pearl provides security and protection.

Silver Jewelry will turn black over time. This is a normal process during which silver reacts with oxygen and sweat but also ingredients of for example skin care products. For cleaning purposes we recommend silver cleaning cloth. These are soaked with chemicals which solve silver sulfide and take on the black residue. However during this manual process small amounts of actual siver are removed as well. Do not polish silver plated jewelry in this manner too often! We always recommend to take off silver jewelry during manual labor, while performing sports and in the shower or sauna.
